Polychrome Corporation, a brainchild of Mr. Halpern, is now a major part of Kodak Co. and continues to live on. But the small company spirit died on Jan 1. 1998 when the company became a part of DIC-Kodak joint venture. This blog is dedicated to the memory of those who proudly call themselves "Polychromer". ..... Ken Shimazu shimazukenichi@gmail.com

China Connection Part 5, The Bigger Picture
From time to time I heard those who were new to Polychrome say that perhaps we made a mistake in creating strong competitors through licensing of technology. Recently I posed this question to Simon. He pointed out that our financial gain was substantial in our formative years as well as expanding years to help us grow as we did. Polychrome and licensees grew together, complementing each others strength and weakness through frequent technical exchanges. We became our licensee's "eye" towards developed world and the licensees were our"eyes" in emerging countries which became important economic power. We could have remained to be a small regional player without these activities and be swallowed up as many similar smaller companies did in the past. We should be proud of the fact that our "offsprings" are doing well and together we contributed to the world graphic community.
